Hunted

by Andrew Roberts

You call me the fox
You decorate your greeting cards and your pretty paintings with my image.
Your children's toy shops sell dolls and fluffy, squeaky things of me
to pacify your young.
To keep them happy and help them sleep.
Yet you hide your children away,
protect them from the hunt, when the murderer you call huntsman comes to creep.

You call me the fox
but rather than just decorate your walls with paintings of my head,
you stuff my body when I'm dead.
You destroy the very image you encourage
your young to love.
In the shape of a lifeless doll, my face
is ripped from my body
it still decorates your pretty hallways,
admire my dead face!
Go on murderer, take a look, it's there
on the shield above.

Human being.
I call you the savage hypocrite,
as my brothers and sisters are buried
in your pit.
