Because political and civil liberties groups have cried wolf so often in the past, people now tend to switch off when told of the dangers in a new piece of legislation.
 
The Public Order Act of 1985 did not ban protest any more than the Criminal Justice Act of 1994 banned activities such as raves or hunt sabotage. But people still wasted their - and other people's time saying that it would. The PTA however is different. By using the tool of proscription it looks to ban certain organisations and intimidate others. The determined media campaign against Class War and the Movement Against the Monarchy this year can only be considered in the context of Jack Straw's Act.
 
Whilst we have no intention of complying with any law we do not agree with, life could obviously be made very difficult for us and other straight talking revolutionaries. First they came for the Anarchists...
